Fished the weekend at Eel Lake about halfway between Reedsport, and Coos Bay. Most people fish Ten Mile, so Eel Lake is a gem of peace and tranquility. Ten mile per hour speed limit insures you won't be disturbed by the morons on jet skies, and wake boats doing a hundred miles an hour that are located on Ten Mile. We limited out every day using mostly trout bait, and we caught some real nice size naturals. I've heard that Eel lake is the deepest fresh water lake on the lake coast range. Most places it seems about 60 feet to 70 in some places. Through Tugman park, (a great camp site) runs Eel creek where during the winter you can watch salmon and steel head run to the lake. My girlfriend caught a 28" trout there about two years ago. I caught several from 16" to 18". I caught large mouth bass years ago trolling with rooster tails, but they are real picky and hard to find. No luck with the bass this weekend, but I did try. The lake is really warming up and the bass may get their metabolism up and start hitting in the next month.

Welcome to ifish! :)
Thank you for a great report. I fished that lake years ago & caught my first steelhead. I hope to get back there again someday. I remember it being very peaceful.

Your gf's 28 inch trout was probably a steelhead, as the STEP club down there has a fish trap on Eel Creek, a trib of Tenmile Creek.
