Hello everyone.
My girlfriend and I are planning on making a trip to Diamond Lake in mid/late July. planning on camping at Diamond Lake campground and was going to be going early in the week. Would you all recommend booking online or showing up for the First Come First Serve sites?
I also am going to be taking my boat (19' sled). is there a dock to tie up to at night?
I appreciate the info, thanks.

I would reserve a camping spot if I were you. The resorts sells overnight moorage which I would reserve also. There is a day use dock available at the marina for short term parking.

Go first-come to Thielsen View (west side of lake). It can be buggy (mosquitoes) on that side, but it's a sandy shore, easy to beach your boat. Forest Service CG (east side) is pretty much rocky shoreline, best to anchor your boat offshore (only a handful of sites has decent beach). Take bicycles, you can ride all the way around the lake. Been going there for 45+ years, even when chubs were bad!

To add to what King said.... of the 3 lake side (and 1 inland) campgrounds, only the East campground has any reservable sites...and only about 1/2 of them are reservable. If you are deadset on that campground, which I am partial to because the evening breezes keep the bugs out of our camp if we get lakeside spots, then you should reserve.
The other sites are all first come first serve, and usually a bit cheaper. If you can handle the mosquitos, the Thielsen side is nice....but no showers that I have ever been aware of. East side has some showers. The East side also has some fish cleaning stations (as does the lodge ramp area and possibly south ramp area).
Take your chainsaw, there is a lot of wood from this winter laying on the ground that the work crews just clearned off of the roads and camp slips.
