Launched there once before with a 17' Harborcraft and had no problem, But our 25' Trophy I would not launch there. I thought the dock was a little unstable.

Were you launching with a rv or a truck? Why would the 25 ft not launch?I've never been there. Thanks

Just came back from spring...no problem launching your boat...dock a little rickrty and ya have to get toes wet to get to because lake is at full pool and dock of shore a couple feet...great beach access to beach boat..bring your best bug repellent though...very hungary...as far as fishin..hmmm...has slowed alot but you can get your limit ..stay at west end by camp..trolling seemed best..60-120' water...down riggers helpful...if none then 1 1/2 ounce out 40 pulls worked well..just adjust to fish on screen....small cow bells and green wedding ring tipped with nitecrawler was best..tried dodgers and corn ect.. not much success....if ya want to jig find 60' just out front of boat ramp... ya can anchor if ya like or cruise around locating fish ...pink and white gibbs tipped with white corn..caught a few jigging but trolling best...getr out early 5:00 am is best...windy by noon..good luck:excited:

Just returned from a 6/16-19 trip to Spring CG also. I was going to post a separate thread but there's not much to add to the excellent report that workdogg has already submitted :applause:. Like he said, fishing has slowed and it takes some work now to fill your limit. I didn't do any trolling but noticed that the boats are now working the entire lake instead of just the west end. The FS has pulled the dock back in so it's now accessible from shore. If you've never camped at Spring, you're really going to like it. Don't forget the deet! With the water level so high it's easy to moor even the bigger boats right on the beach. This pic was taken from the boat ramp with Diamond Peak in the backround.

Jigging: Workdogg's advice is spot on. I had the best success starting straight out from the boat launch scanning for fish near the bottom. After reaching about 80' in depth, heading in a direct line across the the front of the campground to the western shore...always watching the finder. As soon as spotting a few, put the motor into reverse and immediately dropped the jig down to the bottom, back-trolling over the top of them. If no strike in about 5 minutes, reeled the line in and moved on looking for more, always heading west. This will take you through different depths ranging from about 45' to 80'. It was best to go from east to west because the wind was westerly and back-trolling in reverse was necessary to keep the line vertical and at the proper depth. The bottom weeds have grown quite a bit higher in the last couple of weeks and using an ultra light rod made it easy to tell if the jig was fouled. When it was windier, after the koke grabbed the jig, the line would just go slack because the fish would head straight up. Better start reeling like crazy to catch up with him or it'll be adios! Quite a few gave me the 'tail fin' salute. As far as jig color went, it didn't seem too important. Had strikes on several different ones with some combination containing white. If using this seek and back-troll method...be sure to use a fast sinking jig...especially if it's windy. Buzz Bomb type or the stubby 1/2 ounce ones that Aufish makes work great. If you're anchored, any type would probably work fine. I had the good pleasure of running into ifisher Kelvin K. and his brother Ken who pulled in Thursday. We had a nice chat about our favorite pastime. The weather turned pretty windy Friday and here's hoping that it calms down some for them during the rest of the weekend . I managed to hook a couple of nice browns while jigging too. You never know what you'll hook on to at Crescent, Odell, or Billy Chinook. That's what makes fishing with jigs all the more fun. This one was just under 19". I usually release everything except for the Kokanee, but this one just inhaled the jig and was bleeding from the gills so he went into the fish basket. He's now filleted and residing in brine along with his koke cousins...waiting for the smoker tomorrow.

Dullhook nice to talk to you at Cresent we went home with about 20 fish nothing to spectatular but some real nice size to them we caught all of them trolling around 40 to 50 ft got all of them at the west end and along the homes. Used ford fender and green wedding and a worm with corn on the hook also with some krill gel and garlic gel, don't know if that made a difference or not. Kind of cool but had a good time, skitters were a bit hungry but put on the juice and they stayed away, first time to cresent so I will surely be going back again real nice place and spring campground was nice and very clean.:excited:

Thanks to all who helped with replies. We just returned from Spring campground yesterday. We had a blast. No problems launching the boat.
Had two days, Mon and Tues with no wind and lots of sun. The fishing was alittle slow but we got enough to fill the smoker! The hotest spot seemed to be straight out from the boat ramp along the edge of the drop offs. I will be looking forward to going back soon.
