I'm going through my late father-in-law's fishing rods. One is a 3-piece, white fiberglass "8'6" Shakespeare Super Delux fly rod Model 1390 (mfg code FCC = Aug, 1958).

I can't figure out which line to use on it... there is a code "C, HCH, 6MH" listed on one web site I found, but I haven't been able to translate that into current codes.

One ferrule is missing and I don't know if this rod is worth repairing or just keeping as a "family heirloom".

What are your thoughts about this rod ?

C = 7 wt level. HCH = double taper 7 wt. http://css.sbcma.com/timj/flyline_chart.htm

Lots of Wonderrods were sold. Somebody on here will know about them.

heavy thing. Good for bass. Keep it if it has sentimental value.

I will send a msg with more ...

Have one hanging on the wall. It's a keepsake.

Fish it...for bass, large trout, carp...

better yet, send it to me to make sure it gets used...

here's a useful site for figuring out those old line codes...

It looks as though this rod is going to end up being a keepsake wall hanging. I went to buy a replacement for the missing ferrule and learned the rod has been broken and "repaired" right under one of the guides. So it is not fishable.

But this has been an interesting experience. Rockthief PM'ed information to me and I learned that the ribbed aluminum case and rod-sock with brass-ball ties that we have is part of the original rod's kit.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and help...
