We're going to be at Diamond Lake this next week and the midges are due to hatch. Any ideas on good imitations for these? I'm thinking probably wet. Thanks

I was there two weeks ago (and will be again in two weeks!). Last year we did great using leach patterns. However, two weeks ago we weren't doing very well till we finally shifted to small wet flies and chironomid patterns. Didn't seem to matter a lot which fly or color, but it had to be fished at the tops of the weeds and extremely slow. Most of the fly-caught fish were in 10 -16 feet of water. We concentrated on the south end, but a couple of other fly fishermen with more midge experience than us caught a lot of fish right off the campground in the same depth range. There were also a lot of mayflies hatching two weeks ago, and sometimes in the evening some of those were being taken off the surface.
