I heard from some buddies that the fishin' slowed down the past few days at Diamond. They said the surface was boiling with fish feeding off of a hatch. Bait fishing was consistent a few weeks ago.
So, I have 2 questions. 1. What are some good flies (dry and wet) to try
2. Any little tips for getting the tough biters when conventional ways aren't working (besides lighter leader)?
Thanks for the input, good fishing or not, I'm looking forward to going back>

Midge and Caddis hatch is what's going on right now I believe. That's what I saw hatching when I was last up there a week ago. One of our fish has snails in him too.

Callibaetis "Love In" is what I would describe Saturday and Sunday on the water.

Fished Diamond Mon-Wed last week..yes, has slowed considerably. But, had good luck with ford fender; 3-4' leader with f-7 or f-5 frog finish flatfish in 30' water with 2 oz weight trolled slowly. fished primarily off shrimp beds out of weeds. Good luck

Was there Thurs - Sun, fishing was very slow in comparison to earlier....
We picked up a few good fish wind drifting leech and wooly buggers with white or green in them.
The fish we caught had many nymphs and leeches in them.
The hatches on the lake that we saw were midges and mayflies. Lots of fish rolling. Oh and the rain flies were out if force (we got soaked).

Fished Monday tru Friday and yes the bite had slowed from previous reports.....However, the combo of corn pwr bait in a pee size ball with a pautskes, KILLER bite. Every fish was stuffed full of bugs but they still would eat this combo. Just had to keep out of the weeds at about 22 to 28' of water. Not like the old days but will get better with time as the food source is amazing. Fingerlings to 14" cookie cutters and fat in 1 year. Be patience Diamond will return.....:applause::applause::applause: Just wish they had digital cameras back then...HEH HEH HEH

What I find to work for Rainbow when a bug hatch is going on are Streamer flies off a planer board. Tied direct to your main line, make sure there tied snug with no movement . Best speed is 2.5 to 3 mph by your gps
