I have a 5 HP Honda that I was storing at my bother in laws place. His son moved it and let it sit in the wrong position. When I retrieved it today crank case oil flowed out of the shaft.

Does anyone know how to fix this short of going to a dealer?

Thanx in advance for advice.

They sure get messy when stored in the wrong position. Oil not only leaked out into the cowling and is running down the shaft but it usually gets into the cylinder. Remove the spark plug and get the oil out of the cylinder area the best you can (be careful when cranking it with the spark plug out because oil will fly out the hole). Clean the spark plug which is probably coated with oil. Replace plug, check oil level and fill as needed.
If you have gotten the cylinder pretty clean, it should start up but will probably smoke until the excess oil is burned off. If it will not start, take the plug out again and clean some more.
Good luck.

Thanks Loneangler,

I want to add that just below the carburator is a black triangular shaped knob connected to a tube that drains out of the bottom of the engine body. We cranked and cranked on it , check spark and then found the black knob. Turned it and pulled on the starter with plug out and drained oil/gas mixture out of engine. Started up after that.
