79 v6 150 hp jet

Got a question every once in a while after running long distance in my sled.I will power it down 2 stop and get a solid loud beep out of the control housing.any ideas??.Not oil injected its pumping plenty off water but dont have temp guauge. thanks jeff

replace your thermostats if you have not done so in the last couple of years. most overlooked part on a outboard, and has killed more good motors over the years by overheating and squeking the motor.:twocents:

There are also deflectors under the heads that need to be changed, they direct the water flow to get even cooling. All they are is a fuel line type tubing that slides in between the cylinders, they swell as they age and may block the water flow.

Sand can also plug the water passages in the block restricting flow, removing the heads will help determine if this is a problem.
