The Tach on my 175 SJ is stuck at 2200 RPM. Battery on, stuck...battery off, stuck...key on, key off all the time stuck.
Any thoughts.
Pulled the electronics box open, very clean no corrosion.
So is it the gauge itself? Is there a way to test it? Sending unit...is there one, could that be it.
Any help appreciated.

Is it a Faria gauge? If it is, the gauge needs to be replaced.

So you are saying that when the motor is running it's still stuck on 2200rpm?? My Bro's tach was always stuck on like 1000, motor off..key on....key off...until he started it up....then it would read the right rpm.

Yep! Where is the best place to buy one, or do you recomend a different brand next time...?

It's fairly easy to check if it's the tach before just replacing. Should be 3 wires: ground, light (hot when running lights/key on) and signal wire. Hook a volt meter to the signal wire, start engine and rev up and down. If the voltage goes up with rev's, the tachs shot. I picked one up on e-bay for ~$25 new :twocents:

You may want to check with Faria. I had great customer service from them on a tach that quit. I sent them the old one and they replaced it no charge.
