Hells Canyon

Has anyone fished the Hells Canyon stretch of the Sanke River for trout?Im going on a rafting trip in July and would like to take my fly rod.

The best trout fishing is between the dam and Rush Creek after that there is some trout but mainly bass. Take some bass bugs its way better than the John Day. Fishing woolly buggers and poppers will catch both bass and trout. If you can spend a night between Wild Sheep and Granite Creek this is the best trout fishing stretch in the canyon.

Lots of whitefish, ********* ,channel cats , sturgeon and some crappies.

....and suckers! Watch the foam lines in the eddies - I once got into a few surface feeding suckers (no joke) that were sucking down spinners in a foam line, and got a few on dries. I'm jealous - You'll have a great time!
