View Full Version : Fuel/Oil ratio for 115 FICHT/Similar Motors ???

My oil reserve for my motor is buried deep in the bilge area, very hard to check oil level without major effort on my part and often I error.
Had thought that as I keep fuel records, if I knew basic ratio, I could simply monitor how much fuel I burn and add oil to the reserve as indicated by known/approximate ratio.
Does anyone have a ballpark idea ?
I was aboard a friend's boat this week; he has a much larger motor but similar in design, burns 1 gallon of oil per 50 gallons of fuel ...

50:1 is pretty standard. Some systems are designed to use less at idle and low speeds.

ficht is a variable ratio oiling system based on both RPM and engine load, so no rule of thumb will get you there - i had a ficht and as I recall it varied from 50:1 to something above 100:1, memory which aint that good says 150:1...

You'll get pretty close with a 1:70 ratio. This based on 450 hours running a 2001 175 ficht.

Thank you all.
Going with rough ratio of 50 to 1 for fuel to oil.
Going to carefully remove the shroud from the top so I can at least see the top level.

Ypu may want to check if you can do this. I have a '98 115hp FICHT. The oil injection moanifold went on me and the motor was GUZZLING oil. Repair was north of a gradn so I asked my mech if I could, he advised against since the motor auto injects it would never stop beeeping and I think cutting out. I got the repair and the motor has been great since, very strong and stingy on oil too.
Good luck
