I've been looking over my options for a brake upgrade on my tandem axle trailer. I currently have drum brakes that are close to the end of their usefull life. Ultimately I plan on upgrading to SS disks, but have a couple questions.
1) which brand of SS disks do you recommend
2) currently I have brakes on both axles...is there any reason why I couldn't go with brakes on only one axle...especially if my tow load is somewhat light?
Thanks for the advice.

I did Kodiak Silver Cadmium discs. The SC has about 80% of the corrosion resistance of SS at about 50% of the cost.
Kodiak themselves talked me out of the SS discs. They said the SS is harder to work with when its time for brake maintanance (turning the rotors).
Stay away from the Tie-down brand,I've never read a single good thing about their disc brakes.
Be sure to budget enough for a new disc brake actuator. You can modify the drum actuator to work with the discs, but the modified actuator didn't work real well. The replacement disc brake actuator works much better.

I've unfortunately used Tie-Downs before. Never again.
I have Kodiak S-cads now. No problems, just great brakes. Like Mooch said, be sure to replace the actuator as well (and the lines as far as I'm concerned).

Thanks for the responses. I plan on checking out the kodiak brakes.
I think I answered my 2nd question..... In the state of washington, if your towing weight is 3K+ you need brakes on each axle.
