Does anyone flyfish for Cutts in the coastal rivers? If so, what dry flies or nymphs would you recommend for them? Thanks.

I have had good luck with elk hair caddis when fishing dries. As far a wet flies just look to see what is floating by.

Anything is the right conditions works for these. I have used traditional patterns like Royal Wulffs in the fast but not white water. Or, the go to stipper pattern of a reverse spider. Go to River City Fly in Tigard for them all.

Depending on the time of year, for dries I like stimulators, elk hair caddis, and adams. Ants and bettles work as well.
For wets - Knutsen spiders and reverse spiders with yellow, black, red or orange bodies.
a plain old black, green or brown bugger will work as well.
Nymphs - Copper Johns, Princes and lightning bugs.

Little streamers can also do the trick. The little cutts can be surprisingly aggressive.

Are you asking about searuns or resident fish? Resident fish seem to like attractor patterns. Searuns prefer a yellow bodied bucktail caddis with all the hackle under the wing and fished wet with short easy jerks. Tidewater fishing is usually done with something like a spruce fly or other light colored streamer. Try something with a little flash.
