Well, I couldn't resist lashing the Subaru from Hood River to Maupin Sunday for a few hours of fishing.
The river was a little high, but it had good color. The trout have had time to adjust since the levels rose last week, which was good luck for me. I also think more fish have moved onto the banks because of the higher water.
On the other side, the wading was a little tougher.
Still, I managed to hook a few fish on Clark Stones and rubber-legged Norm Woods Specials. The big bugs -- salmonflies and golden stones -- are getting a little thinner on the ground -- and the trees -- but the fish are still looking for them.
I would try to hit the river this week....
