My 20-something eldest son announced that he'd like to learn fly fishing. :excited:
We've not been "estranged" in recent years but haven't done much fishing together.
Certainly no fly fishing.
He deserves a box of new Dad-tied flies.
And it's been at least five years since I've tried wrapping a hackle around a hook shank.
What's happened to the universe in that time?
I'm officially 59 1/2 years old, the point when your 401K reaches touchability and, apparently, the point when the rest of the body reaches total un-coordination.
Somehow my vision is half what it used to be; my thumbs are twice the size they used to be; and fly tying hooks are 1/4 their previous size.
Plus, I suspect that the sun isn't as bright.
Oh well, since I'm the "teacher," I'll get to explain that ragged flies are more effective than "perfect" ones.
Looking forward to a good, non-judgmental day on the river with my son . . .
