Slow fishing was the name of the game, for us anyway. Saturday, we spent most of the AM and PM trolling for browns with not even a sniff of a fish. I did get to try out some new equipment though and was really pleased with the Cannon 5-HS downrigger, two new Shakespeare Agility kokanee trolling rods, a new Shakespeare Synergy trolling rod with an Okuma line counter reel. While all the new gear didn't produce much, it's looking good for future trips. After I can get another downrigger and upgrade my fish finder, I think I'll be "done" for a while and give the checkbook a rest. Sunday, we trolled for kokes most of the day and got 5 strikes with 2 in the boat. The fish were caught on a green wedding ring tipped with white corn. The fish we lost hit on a hoochie, an orange apex, and a red wedding ring. I marked a ton of fish down by the dam in 40 feet of water and jigged and jigged with a lot of different colors without a strike.

The weather was great, we had a great time on the lake and wished I had known some other iFishers were up there. We camped at Gull Point and walked through the campground a couple of times looking for familiar faces.

Nice pictures, I too was looking Ifish stickers and found none. I also didn't hook up with any fish jigging either.

Nice photos Russ. The picture of the yellow lab would be great for a caption...Do you mind!!! Funny how some years the fish at Wickiup are very difficult to catch jigging. At least you got out on the water with nice weather and were able to beta test some new equipment.

Thanks for the report and great photos Russ! Nice looking kokanee dogs. Do they point? Mine points...... and laughs. I sure wish she'd stop pointing at me.

Seems as if the fish at wickiup are pretty picky this year, except for fallriver guy, he seems to be able to catch them out of a bubble bath.
When we were there last week, the bite was pretty good and i did manage to catch a couple on my favorite gibbs minnow.

Plan another trip there soon and hope they are biting on the gibbs, as big as they seem to be this year, it is a real hoot on a light rod.

Thanks for reporting. I remember those two from the kokefest. The big guy is a teddy bear, and I'm glad he is because those chompers could make quick work of a feller's casting hand! Just got back from Wickiup today and also tried jigging without a touch. I managed some nice ones trolling and the fish size sure makes up for not catching big numbers. These are some really nice kokes! I'll post a report later with some pics too.
