Fished three days at the derby. Fishing was much better than last year. Friday we had 5 limits by noon after getting on the water at 7:30 and taking a break to setup camp. Saturday five limits by noon. Sunday we put the first rod in at 6:30 and were done with five limits by 7:22.
Most fish were caught on standard setups (wedding rings, flashers) 1/2 oz weight at 17 pulls; 1 oz at 15 pulls seemed to be the right depth. Fished in front of the campground, the santiam arm by the houses and the end of the island. The santiam arm was the best and the island was the slowest.
Prizes were a little light this year because sponsors pulled out so nobody won anything from my group. I knew fishing was good when the two boys in the boat got tired of catching fish.
