Tried using these for Kokes at Merwin, but when trolling at our normal slow speed (just enough to work the dodger and wedding ring spinner) they have no action. To get them to wiggle the speed seems way fast. Are we doing somethig wrong?

How fast were you trolling? With the Apex type lure you'll need to speed it up a bit and check the action along side the boat. Re-rig with lighter line for slower speeds. Also, the Protroll kokanee killers come with a forth hole (the slow speed option) where you can re-rig for more action. I use 8lb test mono with the regular apex and a speed of between 1.4-1.6 works good. Too much corn will cause it to have no action also. What the lure needs to do is have a very erratic wiggle and a roll every now and then. A shorter leader between the lure and dodger will help, but where I fish a longer leader is recommended, and with the lighter test line I have no problem getting the desired action as long as the speed is good and the lure isn't over loaded. I generally use just 1 piece of corn on each hook. If useing the apex lure with the line it comes with, a speed of around 1.8 is recommended. Since this type lure requires a faster speed, running them on each side of the boat at the same time works good. Alot of the hits are caused by speed variations and s-turns that change up the action.

Not sure of the speed, just enough to make a small 3" dodger and wedding ring work. I had retied the apex with 8lb. line and had 1 kernel on each hook, 3' leader. Guess I'll just need to go faster. Thanks
