I'm heading that way this weekend and haven't fished it since I was a little kid. I plan on jigging and trolling to see what works. I've got some old buzz bombs for jigging, is there anything else that you guys would recommend? Also, for trolling, just a ford fender with a wedding ring with some grubs. I've heard hoochies can work good, how are those being fished? I would really appreciate any help anyone is willing to give.
Thanks

I don't know jigs from Shine-Ola, but for trolling be ready to mix up chrome, brass and chrome&brass, so on. The preference may change every couple hours. It's mostly nightcrawler and corn for us, we didn't get a lot of fish (3 Little Chiefs full of filets) but the kokes are BIG they are leapers and divers, I'll bet we landed 40-50% (good clean fun) :yay:
Also took a couple of browns that whacked our trolling rigs in shallow water, one 3lb.2oz. Grub and corn could be good, or corn and corn, or ... corn

Most hoochies are fished behind some kind of dodger. For example a 4/0 or 3/0 dodger or a sling blade type dodger with the hoochies 8 to 12 inches behind. Below is one way to rig them:

Bait of some kind is put on both hooks. Trolling speed will be dictated by the dodoger type. Standard dodger work better between 0.8 and 1.2 mph. The sling blade type dodgers can be trolled up to 2 mph.
I hope this answers your question.
