Anyone been fishing for kokes up there? Haven't been up there much, but I'd like to get a trip or two in before I have to line up behind 1000 wakeboard boats to take out. Is there any secret (like color) to key on earlier in the year?

I would use a silver dodger with a green or red wedding ring..if have some hoochies..put them behind dodger about 6 inches...if need some hoochies and other tackle gear, I have had great luck with Shastatackle.com or rockymountain tackle.com..(white corn a must) Good luck and give us a report.

I spent a few hours up there yesterday afternoon/evening. Caught 3, all in the Thistle Arm.

a Gibbs 2 blade troll and a red wedding ring tipped with corn. Thanks to the fisher who gave me his can of left over corn on his way out.

Took the boat out to see if it still floats Friday afternoon. Managed a few but they were sure scattered. Cully was that you in the drift boat?

Was there Saturday early, in line behind the Bass boats. "DLM" was right behind us in queue. Slow, started trolling towards the island. Marked some fish, most showing pretty shallow. Had a couple strikes right off the bat, then it stopped. Moved around a bit looking and tried a variety of rigs, put one trout in the boat. Talked to others and folks had 2 fish here, 3 there. Not sure what's up with GP.

Is there multiple bass tourneys up there this year? A few times we have had issues with way more boats than I am used to. Maybe just pre fishing and then tourney days? I sure hope that lake doesn't turn into a bass lake. I am not much of a green fish fan, I like the shiny ones :meme:!!!!!

Wannafish,

Yep in the drift boat. Are you the one who gifted the corn/worms?

Same story for me. Marked tons of fish but could not get them to bite. They saw everything I had in the tackle boxe, three colors of corn, two different scents and two colors of maggots, zilch! Jigged and trolled. Even trolled a fly for a while in desperation.

I talked with two different guys that said the lake was too full:confused:, that they had brought it up very fast the last week and that really screws up the fish. The lake was 7 feet over full pool, I think in preparation to fill Foster which is still down. I don't know if bring the lake up or down fast could mess with the bite but I suppose it could. With Koke you just don't know.

Thanks for the info, guys. Last year we scratched around early on looking for fish, too. Still, a day fishing still beats a day not fishing, I say. Hopefully I can get up there this week.

Hey All,

New to iFish... lots of great info out here, thanks to all for sharing... I was up at GP on Sunday as well.. the ramp was crazy crowded... waited over 30 minutes for a chance to take out... Didn't see anybody landing fish, but for me it was a chance to try out the downriggers. :) Landed some rainbows, no Kokes though... we'll keep after them, looking forward to many days on the lake this summer.

The Salem Sportsman's Warehouse off Lancaster next to Winco has bolth Shasta Tackle and Rocky Mountian tackle a few other good ones would be apex lures and macks. For flashers we have done well with the bolo trolls and macks flashlights because they have next to no drag.. Everything is at sportsman's.
