Well my son and I made the trip to Cabela's on Sat. It was interesting but...... we both feel that the fishing items that they carry could have been bought at Fisherman's Marine for about the same price or even maybe less. I was expecting more bass tackle but it was so so and a gentleman that was there and lives nearby said he felt there were better places.
There is a lot of hunting items and clothing that were available but not what I was looking for.
So I made the big trip and probably won't again unless I am in the area.
So today, I placed an order for the "Wingman lure kit" and will see how it works in the local waters for Bass, Crappie and even the Summer Run Steelhead. It is worth a one shot order until I find out how good they are.

That store is impressive but the tackel selection is not; however, their web site is very good and they ship quickly.

I am not going to lie, I loved the store. I went there two weeks ago and felt it was like Disneyland for a 10 year old. I spent a grip of money that I did not have, but it was fun. Like any store, they have deals on some items, then are overpriced on others. I purchased a reel, fishing life jacket, some clothes, and an assortment of lures for under the price I would pay here, but I lost the savings in gas money driving to and fro. It was a great three hours of my life spent inside the store.

I can't speak for Oregon, but the Cabela's I visited in Phoenix, AZ seemed much more involved with hunting and clothing than fishing. It was like Disneyland to a 10-year old, and there were both good deals and bad, but I didn't spend a whole lot. I have done a lot of business with their catalogs over the years, and find that service to be as good as anyone's. I do think the stores more to be a place to view their taxidermay than to spend much money. Great if you have kids!
