The kids and I hopped in "Betsy" around 9:00 AM, and started fishing Haystack. I started with my brooder sized Gold Fightin' Fish. We trolled around the south shore and to the east side. No bites before we had to run back to the bathroom. We were fighting the motor in Betsy which just doesn't want to run correctly and most of the time when it is running we are trolling 2.5-3.0. After the bathroom break we headed back out along the west shore. I got a good strike but I could see that it was about a 12" fish so I was not surprised that it was off before I got the rod out of the holder. I switched to a small gold fightin' fish and the action began. Over the next hour or so we caught six little stockers between 9 and 12 inches, lost two at the net (7 year-olds have fun but aren't the greatest at working a net:D) and had a couple drive-byes. Pretty fun morning with the kids before I had to go back to work. We caught one fish on a black and silver rapala and all the rest were on the gold fightin' fish.

It just struck me who Doc Rhen is. Well, maybe. Your clinic is the one that took care of Squirt when he got snake bit last fall. He came around fine, I didn't! Boy am I paranoid about taking the dogs out where there are snakes now. Thanks Doc. Would have killed me if I'd lost him.

Yep that is me. Good to hear Squirt is doing well. Rattlesnake vaccine might be in order for Squirt and Bodie.

Good job on getting some water time with the kids. Sounds like fun.
