Just wondering if there were any new reports for Detroit, as I am taking my 8 year old daughter there in the morning. She wants to go fishing with dad, so I said ok. Cleared an overnight with the ex, and am getting her tonight. Any reports would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks.

I know it's too late for your trip, but just to give an update:
Went out today to make sure the Iphone worked to access my work email, so I can work and fish without taking time off when we go up there next month for the week, BTW, it does :meme:
We started by the dam and got one trout on the first cast, then nothing for the next hour there. We moved around a bit with little to no luck.
We then moved to the east tip of the island in about 120' and casted out about 40' using night crawlers and a small split shot and limited out and then some.
We were not trolling, we would cast out and when the line was straight down, reel up and do it again. If they were going to hit, they would hit on the way down.
My rig was a 3' spinning reel with 2lb line and I out fished my brother by 3/1 who was using something a bit bigger.
We have used this method for the last 4 - 5 years and usually limit out each time.
We also use this method at Promontory Park (North Fork Reservoir) for years and the same applies.
Hope this helps.

Paul, were you picking up more trout, kokes, or chinook?
Thanks for the update.

Are you in a boat - work the north side 30 feet from shore all the way to the dam - wedding ring red beads, halo blade, krill soaked corn or small chunk of worm 16-20 pulls, 1 - 1.5oz banana weight, 1.2mph. Watch out for the wind

Hey Stick,
Can you educate me on the setup and what you catch with it?
What is "16-20 pulls"?
I assume the setup goes from spinner, halo blade then weight?
Thanks,
Paul

Pulls - refers to how many pulls of line you pull out. A pull is the length from the reel to the first guide. The idea is to get your gear down at least 10 feet underwater - if your troll speed is slow enough 16-20 pulls should do it. If you lead is light - let more line out. Use your fish finder to see what depth the fish are holding at - generally not far below the thermocline
Oh I also use a Flash Lite as a lake troll in front of the lure. it comes with a rudder on it - I take thos off since I'm using a banana weight.
Pics - sorry guys - the gear shouldn't be hard to find at Fisherman's
