I normally attach the weight to my main line if the weight has a swivel then attach it to the rudder on the ford fender. I have never had any problems doing it this way.
Some may attach in the bottom hole in the rudder if one is available.

If you use a banana sinker, it goes directly between the mainline and fender, with the beadchain towards the fender.

Duo lock snap in rudder, leader to sinker from duo lock. Hopefully the last picture/drawing will help.

Do you think this is better than the inline banana sinker? Or just different?
Thanks.

Just different. If the sinker attached below the rudder snags, you can snap the leader to the sinker and get the rest back. With an inline sinker, you don't have that option.

I take a piece of lighter line through the bottom of the rudder and bend it so both ends are facing down, feed both ends of the line into a piece of hollow lead and clamp on with pliers. If it gets humg up it can slide off the line and not lose the rigging.

That and also if you have a difficult to deal with motor like me and sometimes end up at 3.5-4.0 mph the sinker hanging off of the rudder will inhibit the rudder from spinning and causing line twist; although that is not that important. My other thought is that having the weight separated from the mainline would give less mass for the fish to pull against to tear out a hook.
