Going to be heading to Seaside Wednesday and going to fish Cullaby lake. Anybody have any advice for fishing it as I have never had the opportunity before. Also will be there a couple of days is there another Bass lake close to there since I will be there for a couple of days. I will be fishing from a boat. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I grew up about 5 minutes from cullaby lake and have fished alot in there. I would try the North end of cullaby....also a good bass lake is Neacoxie (some call it sunset) lake which basically right accross the highway from cullaby. I have done well on the north end of that as well. lots of lilly pads there. another lake is West lake which goes right under the highway about a mile south of the turnoff to cullaby. used to catch lots of LMB out of there on rapalas. I would spend more time at sunset lake.....thats where I'm going when I get back up there:twocents:

If you are in a small boat there are miles of slough that run into and out of Sunset lake that parallel the hyway that look killer for LM. I never see anyone fishing there either.

Caught some nice bass from Cullaby. There is a house straight across the lake from the main boat ramp. I caught an 8 Lb bass there on a crawdad colored Big-O and a 6 LB bass there on a rubber worm. I like the south end of the lake best. I use a snake or lizzard with no weight and throw it up on the lilly pads. Slowly raise your rod and gently move it from side to side to walk the lizard across the pads. Had some bass come flying up and grab it. Real cool. When you get to the edge of the pads let it slowly sink and watch your line to see if you get a fish to mouth the bait. When I first used lizards and snakes I lost a lot of fish because the bait would get get down in the curve of the hook. I learned not to run it back through the body of the bait but to just bury the hook in the edge. Good fishing.
