Water temp 54*
The first hole we fished was a little cove with a stream coming in. I hooked 3 smallies but only land 1 all a crome lipless. Flippinbaits decided it was time for him to switch to the same. I landed 2 more while he was tying up and then he landed 2 on back to back casts. Then the fish just turned off. It was at least another 2 hours and 3 spots later till we hooked up again. This time both of us picked up one each on soft plastics almost back to back. Then about an hour later on the same spot we hit got a double. His was on the lipless mine was on plastics. He hit another about a half hour later on plastics. Fished it a bit longer untill I got a call from another ifisher who only had one smallie so far for the day. He was close to the first spot we fished so I told him to hit that spot and we would come join him. I told him that we got most of our fish on crome lipless. We headed to meet him but by the time we got there he was already off the spot. I motored up and said hi and he told us that they didn't get any out of that hole. I asked what he was using and he said plastics. So I said goodby and went and fished it with the lipless. I got 5 more out of the spot and then the storm hit. After the storm we hit one more spot for a few minutes and then left.
Total for me 10 smallies, flippinbaits 5 smallies.
I still have yet to get a smallie over 3lbs this year.:(
