Ok, since this is my first post (long-time lurker), let's get the fish story out of the way first...

I grew up in Alaska logging camps where my dad worked. We had a salmon derby in camp each year that lasted most of the summer. Anyway, I was out fishing with my mom and brother in our 14' Lund and the kicker was being a real PITA.

As my brother tried getting it going, I bobbed my herring like any 5 year old would do. We eventually drifted into a bed of bull kelp and WHAM! My stubby little salmon pole pulled to the water.

To declare the fish mine for the derby, I had to reel it in by myself. I fought the thing for a long time and finally got it to the boat after what seemed like eternity. Remember--I am 5 at the time.

Anyway, we get the King back to the dock and hooked it on the scales. 52 lbs, 10 ounces! I easily won the derby that year, but the camp boss would only give me a consolation prize because of my age.

I have photo proof, but my prohibitively slow modem connection won't let me upload stuff like that.

Ok, now on to my question.

I bought a new 22' Alumaweld Intruder hard top with a BF225 and BF9.9 Honda. I installed the digital Honda gauges myself, and want to run the pitot tube so that I can monitor water speed (I also have GPS for actual speed).

Where is the pitot port on the BF225 located? I followed what I think is the hose up to where the wire harnesses enter the engine but I lose track of it at that point. I don't want to take anything apart unless I know for sure where it is.

Great story! Welcome aboard.

The pressure sensor hose should have been coiled up with the wiring harness, and should have a golf tee or other plug in the end so it doesn't spew water all over the boat. If the wiring was already run before you took delivery of the boat it depends on where the dealer left the pressure line, likely either under the back deck where the wiring harness goes through a boot into the hull or up near the back of the shift/throttle control box. If you look up under the starboard gunwale on the inside, you'll probably find the hose among all the bundled wires if they ran the hose up to the control box.

If you were asking where to route a hose inside the BF225, you shouldn't have to do that- the pitot itself is in the bottom leading edge of the lower unit on most outboards, and they usually run the hose at the factory and plug it. If not you can always add an external pitot tube for about fifteen bucks.

The pressure sensor hose should have been coiled up with the wiring harness.

Exactly the information I was looking for. I knew there was a pitot hose leading up to the upper end of the engine, but couldn't find the end of it. I hadn't considered that it might run the full length of the wire harness.

I'll start there. I'm also having problems with the speed gauge not reporting gph fuel consumption (just reads --- at any speed), but I suspect that may be due in part to the pitot tube.

Thanks again for your help!
