I have a mercurser 1988 alpha1 and want to change the water impeller my self can some one tell me how?:pray:

How mechanical are you anyway ?...
And where is your customary fish story and personal introduction ? ...

Back to the outdrive ... To put it in a nutshell the water pump is located on the
bottom of the upper housing of the outdrive and requires complete removal
of the lower part of the unit ...
You should have a decent grasp of mechanical operations or at least purchase a repair manual on your outdrive ...:twocents:

I have worked on my Chevy motors for years but the water impeller got me. I live in Calif. in Hesperia love to fist at Havasu.
I will buy a repair book today and see If I can fix it.:twocents: Thanks for the reply at my age it is hard to bend around I will be 70 this year but I wanted to do this my self

Make sure you support the outdrive well those lower units are heavy ...

Thanks I went to San Bernardino today and got the repair manual I love fishing am getting ready to do Havasu will fix it when I get back as it works now:meme:
