I have a 05 22' Seahawk, It came with What I call the "old style rubber boot" on the transom where the cables and stuff come to the motor. 250 Yami.
Boot is all rotted. And I want to replace with the enclosed tube like the 06 and forward. Anyone done it? Dealer made it sound like I would have to cut a new hole in the center of the transom.
Any ideas??

I was a rigger for the NRB for a long time, and I can tell you how to replace that boot. First, I am guessing with a 250 you have hydraulic steering. If if fact it does you will need to disconnect the hoses to do all of this, then you will have to bleed you steering system, and not got the hoses backwards (colored zips ties makes quick work of that). So, no you don't need to make a new transom hole, they use the same size hole no matter which rigging boot is installed. Before I can guide you through step by step how to do, I need some more info about you set up. Do you have a rigging tube installed i.e. the black plastic hose from the transom to your 250? Secound, do you have the rigging gromment for the engine, and for the transom? I will be more than happy to walk you through step by step how to do it, but I need as much details as you have. Besides bleeding the steering and maybe drilling and tapping a new screww hole it's fairly straight forward. Let me know what you get and I will walk you through it. Enjoy the sunshine!!!

I will be down in Newport Saturday. And back up North Sunday Clams watch out..........
Yes the Collectors item. If I buy another Boat it will need to be big enough to live on. Because I won't be married any more.
Now there is a thought! Think I will go shopping today.
