I just purchased this used kicker. Everything checked out OK except the prop seems to slip along the hub gear about 1/4". My 25hp Merc has some play at the prop as well but not this much. I can actually see the internal gear from the gap between the prop and the casing. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

With the prop pushed forward you should not see a gap where it meets the gear housing. If so then something either isn't installed or something is badly worn

Thanks Doc. When pushing forward, it closes the gap and it looks normal like my 25hp Merc assembly. The gap shows only when I pull it back; it seems to have more play than my other motor.
Thanks fishkisser for the PM, I will check out the assembly to see if it is missing something or something is worn.

Just want to share the learning, after going through the schematic of the prop assembly, I was missing a 'spacer'. It is after the prop and before the blocker cup. I got the part from Stevens for $6.50 and after installing it, no more slip. Thanks again doc and fishkisser.:flowered:
