View Full Version : Lower Unit?
I had a towing issue tonight broke a little part off the tip of the Skeg on a Merc 25 HP will this be an issue. I know i need to get it fixed but will it be ok to finish out springer season.
Thanks
Sure, file it smooth and you are good to go.

I broke a sizable chunk off the skeg of my 115 tiller motor skeg. Bent it on something, then stupidly tried to straighten it, POP! off it snapped.
Have never noticed it in the least bit. Motor is a bit of a "man maker" to begin with, pulls hard at lower RPMs, but once trimmed & on step it's pretty tame.
I agree with the above poster, file it smooth and forget about it.

I would have to agree with the file and paint repair If your not comfortable with that, then go to the Cabelas website and search for the Blackfin Skeg. It may give you more peace of mind.

If you would like to have it repaired. Ampro will do a great job of welding
it back on. When they get done you will not even know it was damaged.
Or you could by a replacement scag at Westmarine.or on line.if it's not
to far gone to hold the replacement scag.
