I have a 2000, NR 21' sled with a fuel injected 350, hamilton 212 pump that has sat quite some time, before it sat for awhile we used it 3-4 times a year. I am wondering what regular maintenance on the engine does everbody do when not using their boats. I would like to use the boat more often, but when I can't I would like to have faith in a quality maintenance program. This would give me some peace of mind knowing that when I take it out it will be ready. I know sometimes no matter what you do there are things that fail.
Suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks
(????????? engine oil life, engine electronics for a fuel injected motor, tune-ups, corrosion, Etc...):anyone:

Check with KEM and Hamilton for manuals.

KEM is a motor NRB used to use before they switched to Marine Power.
I was a service tech./rigger for NRB in Aurora before there "closing" in Feb.
In servicing lots of the boats with your set up,I can give you a few tips. With Marine Power engines you should change the oil every season. For The batterys you should get a battery maintainer that is voltage sensitive, not amperage sensitive. A non voltage sensing one will likely overchange and destory your batterys over time. The biggest thing you need to check is your fuel. I can't tell you how many boats we used to have in with water in the fuel. It's because of this new few. There is a product out there that address's this problem with this new fuel, also change your fuel/water seporater. And make sure the pump is greased and the control cables for the pump. Other than that you should be fine. I hope this helps.

I have the same boat. ( 2002 Marine Power with 575 hours) I do exactly what is mentioned above. One question for Dieselpwr, How do you grease the cables to the pump? My throttle shift cable is very stiff. Do you have to disassemble the cables to grease them or is there an easier way to access the cable to grease? Sorry for hijackin ya.

Mike-
What we would do is use a spray lube called "zep 45 nc" it it a penetrating lubricant with teflon and vydax. Wwhat I would do is spray where the shaft comes out of the cable really good, the just work the cable back and forth and spray more lube. Most of the time it works well. If the problem keeps going on then you need to lube the controls at the helm. It should take care of the problem. If not let me know and I can tell you what to do next.

I just ordered 2 cans of Zep. I'll let you know how it works when they arrive.

Thanks,
