Hi, i'm getting into spey casting and purcheses the rio windcutter multi tip fly line. it came with a sink tip compensator. my question is-how is this used? do you connect it to the floating line then add the sink tip?
thank you,

cb: you should have 3 tips, a floating , a sinking and a clear.
Most likely, the floating line was attached to the fly line. If you want to use the sink tip, un loop the floating line and attach the sink tip where the floating line was attatched.
Hope this helps.

The rio comes with several types of heads. Attach the compensator to the running line then the sink tip. I have found my fly at times was not in the zone so I purchased a 24' 22 gram sink tip and attached it directly to the running line. I cut it back to 20' to adjust it to my line and rod. Now I carry a 20' 20g, 15'15g, and 12' 11g head such that no mater what the river is doing I am assured to be in the zone.
Now all I have to do is learn is how to land a steelhead with a 14' rod surrounded by trees and brush. tight lines
