I ended up buying a reddington flyfishing shirt.
Ventilated back, will be cool, dry fast, and keep my forearms covered. Good on the deschutes in the heat and sun. Came out to just about 30, so the price was perfect for the gift certificate.
Now I'm in CT. visiting another buddy. He's one of the best striper fisherman I've ever met. You should see him cast a flyline. He can get way into the backing with ease. WE drank a beer and
chatted at his tying bench last night. This cat has even more stuff than me, and a ton more saltwater flies, oh my god! I made sure to show my wife. Hey honey, look, I don't have as much stuff as bob. She did'nt buy the lame atempt at "too much gear justification" It's been fun. Today we're off for NY state and NJ to visit more fishing buddies, then home sunday. As much as I enjoy visitng and coming back here, it will be good to be back in OR. My kid will appreciate it too, babybuttskunk is not digging it being off the right sleeping schedule, neither is my poor wife.
See you all soon at the port night!

On the topic of shirts, you guys up in the PDX area need to keep an eye on the Columbia factory outlet. Last time I was up there I picked up two fishing shirts for $15 each...

Yo Greenskunkbutt - how's the Salmon fishing? Oswego and Fulton got something like 79" of snow in a couple days last week. My mom is out visiting and says this is better than Miami after the winter they've had in NY. Give me a report wouldya?! Hi to la Familia. lnf

Be sure and get the scoop on striper fishing. I still think there may be a striper outing in order to the south coast sometime.

Does your bud really have more gear than you? I wonder if that photo you posted on Salty Dogs had been altered in Photoshop to look like it was Zane Grey standing amongst all your gear.

Enjoy your trip. I feel the annual two weeks of February sunshine is about to start out here.

Glad to hear you told your wife GBS. I learned my lesson on that one. In 1978 I spent a (then) small fortune on a new rod, and thought to myself "why does my wife need to know?" I put it in the closet with my other rods. One month later on Christmas morning it was under the tree with a bow on it.

lilnorthfork,
I'm writing from the office in my buddies house.
A 4,000 sq. ft. log masterpiece he built on 20 acres. It's so sweet! I watched a flock of turkeys feed in the back yard this morning as I ate breakfast. It's snowed about 4 inches this morning, but freezing rain now. Going to hang out, and maybe shoot clays off the back deck, smoke a cigar, and drink a good beer later.
It's been cold out here, but sunny since we got to boston. We are all just hanging out talking about the good old times fishing in the catskills
and adirondacks. Some very good times for sure.
Still looking forward to getting home.
Babybuttskunk is still on west coast time, so it's been less than ideal for him.
Hope the anniversary was one to remember. You've got a good woman there jon, too good for you
See ya soon, and can't wait for the spring crooked trip.
Cheers to all you ifishers,
GBS
