Howdy Ifish flyfishers.
I'm checking in from the other coast, Maine to
be precise. It's cold but beautiful here. We're right on the water, so I wish the bass were running right now.
My sister in law gave me a 30.00 gift certificate
to the local fly shop for my bday, so I have to
spend it before I leave. Went in the other day and was confused. I kinda have everything.
What to buy? A shirt, a buch of leaders, something
to organize stuff in the vest.
I can't decide.
Be back in a week, hope some of you are catching
some steel.

leaders are always a good bet, but is there anything there that you haven't seen over here on the west coast??? special dubbing, neat new gadgets, or something?

have you thought about getting something for the little one from the fly shop there?

You can never have too much fly tying material...right?
What a delema. Guess that means you have to spend more time snooping around the fly shop.

Flourocarbon tippet for nymphing and a book to read on the ride home.
OR
Do they have one of those long-jawed release tools (Cabelas 15"/$27) that you can use for springer fishing?

If it were me I would stock up on tying materials but thats because I'm on a budget. Otherwise I would get something "local" like a selection of NE flies. You never know what "applications" you might find for them back home.

Still along the line of fly tying material would be titanium (I think) beads for beadheaded flys. Good for tying flys for fast deeps water as it is much more dense than copper or brass.

They should have primo feathers and fur back there if the fly shop has 'local' stuff.

If everything looks pretty much the same as what you can get here, then maybe go for a hat from the local shop, or something local which you won't use up, but you will have as a rminder of the trip.
