No this isn't some new and exotic malady. A buddy of mine is a duck hunter. He's turned me on to wings before and curing them is easy. He brought me some heads assuming I could use the crest feathers ( is he smart or what ? ) which I'd like to. Currently I have the heads in the freezer since I have no idea how to cure them  . Any help would sure be appreciated here.

Thanks

Windknot,

Its pretty easy, especially if you've done wings. Skin it, and scrape away all the fat. Rub borax into the skin every day for 2-3 days. Place it in a dry place for a few weeks, skin side up. You'll know when its ready.

Another method calls for soaking it in kerosene for a few minutes before doing the above, because waterfowl skin has a large amount of fat in it. I don't think I'd bother doing it with just the head though.

Thanks Wade, I'll give that a shot. I was hoping there would be a way to do it intact, the way they do Pheasant heads, your method wound pretty easy.

thanks again
