This may be sacrilege but, I am thinking about doing some flyfishing this year for warm water species as a change of pace. OK, ok, ok for those times during the year when I really want to catch some fish and either not have to think/try that hard or wanting to be standing/floating in cold water. Any recommendations? I've noticed it isn't mentioned much so please don't ban me. It is just a thought. Really.

There have been some interesting posts about fishing for Golden Bonefish (a.k.a. carp). Do a search and contact some of those expert carpers.

I am going to pursue smallmouths on Hagg Lake which is near me. The Oregon state record comes from that lake and so I am going to give it a try.
This May we ought to have an ifish flyfishing get together at Brownlee. Smallies, Crappie, Perch, Bluegills and the occasional pesky Trout. I've even caught catfish on the fly! It's fun, and the action is very fast.
The kicker is there are a bazillion huge Golden Bonefish in that lake. Maybe we could have a contest as to who catches the biggest Carpola on the fly, whadda ya' all think?

during the summer when i have a few hours to spare, i go up to lacamas lake and fish for bluegill with mini poppers... that is a kick in the pants. float tubin for bluegill is a good way to get someone who hasn't flyfished interested in the sport. easy to catch and fun to fight, a good combo for the beginner. i have flyfished over on oxbow res for smallies and did so well by noon, my arm was numb and my finger tips were raw.

One of my absolute favorites is watching a big ol' largemouth (or smallmouth) come up and smash my popper. OOOOOHHHHHH YYYYEEEAAAAHHHHHHHHH
