Thanks for the report about fishing in the snow.
Now we know why you are thinking about warm water fishing.

Did a quick trip to the Deschutes around Maupin yesterday, slightly suprised to still see about a foot of snow on the access road. Also suprised to see the shoulders on the fish we hooked into. Kicked my behind. Did manage to land a couple in the 16inch range. So I was very pleased. We got them on smaller stones nymphs with droppers of hares ears and march browns. Trout seemed to be hitting the stones and whitefish hitting the dropper. Thats my story anyway and I'm sticking to it.

We hit the same area Monday midday with about same success, only one in the 16inch range. Small hare's ear dropper seemed to be the trick, but only after about 1pm.

i was going up to the same area around christmas and we weren't catching very many trout, but we were hooking ALOT of steelhead drifting egg patterns and hare's ear nymphs in the size 16 range heavily weighted to get down to the bottom asap... looks like i'm gonna head up there saturday... see ya, BTS
