Hey guys, new here but been lurking for quite some time. Went out this last week and caught my first of the year and biggest in probably four or five, and nice six pounder that engulfed my rattletrap. I am heading out this Saturday, and was wondering if anyone has any info on Staats Lake in Keizer. Its the large lake on the North end of town with all the houses around it. Its private, but I know a guy who lives there and said I can fish whenever I want. Fished it once last year for less than an hour, and hooked up twice, one was about three pounds or so. Anyway, I am looking for any info anyone may have fished there may have. I plan on launching my pontoon boat to avoid all the onlookers and such.
thanks

You are asking for help fishing a private pond, maybe you should ask the owner....
Maybe I am misunderstanding your post???

You'd think that the fish havent seen too many baits if its a private pond so stick to the easy stuff - spinnerbaits between visible cover then toss a jig or senko to the cover. Rig up a 4 inch senko on a spinning rod and skip it into the thick stuff. Small bodies of water warm quick so if you're looking for big fish the best time is right now. Diamond Jim used to fish that pond years ago but he moved down south.
And make sure if you take a pic you block out the background!!!! :meme:

Good luck trying to fish that lake if you don't have the fishing pass. Even if you live there you are required to have a pass hung around you neck in plain veiw. Most of the people will just ask you to leave but there are a few older people who live there that will call the police if they see you fishing without the pass. Trust me you don't want to get caught fishing that lake without a pass.
As for what to use nitrobass has it right. Keep it basic.

Good advice, I will make sure I get one before I head out. I will make sure I post a pic or two after I get back as well.
