I need to buy one for me and another for my dad.
Local to Eugene (2 Bros, Joe's, Bi Mart) what should I get and where?

Thanks to everyone who has helped. A bunch of questions from a new guy can get tedious. I appreciate the patience and advice.

You might also checkout Cabela's. It will probably give you a headache, but they carry a good variety from highend, to low budget. Their trolling rods have got mixed reviews, but I really like them. Occassionally they will offer some killer deals. Happy hunting!
Berkley Tactix dropshot/finesse, 6'6", 4-10 lbs line weight. May be hard to find but worth the search. I got the last one that Sportsmans in Salem had, Bend store may have them, or go online. Should run about $50.00.

I bought both of my trout/koke rods from Cabela's many years ago. They've got a huge selection with lots of brands and price ranges to suit just about every budget and desire. Like comeherefish mentioned, you'll probably get a headache from trying to choose between all of the different rods available. But, if there's a good way to get a headache this would qualify . I use the same rods for jigging, trolling, and bait fishing. Both are high-end in quality and price which took a long time to save up for but were one of the best investments ever made. One is an ultra light, for 1/4 to 1/2 oz jigs and the other a light action for 3/4 oz jigs and over plus trolling. It's difficult to recommend a brand without knowing how much you want to spend, but remember good quality rods should last a lifetime and are versatile enough to use for more than just jigging.
When it comes to fishing rods, one man's cake is another man's poison...but too stiff or heavy a rod can take a lot of the fun out landing and fighting the fish :twocents:. There are times when the bite can be really light while jigging, and a lighter action rod can translate into more hookups. You want to be able to feel what's goin' on down there. The new Cabela's master fishing catalog just came out and it's a dandy. BTW, if you see something you like and decide to buy, I've got a coupon $20 off on $150 in total purchases good until the end of March. Just pm me if you want it. Good luck!

Berkley cherry woods from Bi-mart, @ $14 bucks, great rods for spares, no ceramic guides, but great action for jigging! I use it for my main rods, cause i'm not really a jigger!

I really like my rod from Vance's tackle, 7 foot long and spiral wrapped. $70.00 and I use it for trolling, on the downrigger, and everything else. Last summer I was even casting my stuff (Sliding weight and Powerbait) at Diamond Lake, and catching the fattys on this light rod is a riot!

Hey Bend folk,
If anyone is going to the class at Suttle, would anyone be willing to pick up the other two rods at Sportman's? I'd pay you for them with a six pack to boot.
