Cimfl and I hit the Willy Saturday morning. Launched a little after 10am. Water was 48* and a little off color. I mostly wanted to do a shake down on the boat so I spent almost as much time running around as I did fishing. My first cast of the year resulted in a birds nest that would have taken less time to cut off and completly respool as it took for me to pick out. Maybe I should try using my thumb as I cast.:passout: It took so long to pick out that cimfl had done all the casting he wanted to with a crankbait and decided to borrow my dropshot rig. Well he picked up a smallie that was about 1.5-2lbs on my rig before I even got my second cast, which was also a birds nest.:bricks:
We hit several more spots and I got two hits but failed to hook up. Looks like I forgot how to set the hook as well as forgetting how to cast.
The boat was on the trailer by 2:00.
Then I put the boat away and we hit a private pond. I got my first bass of the year. See Post your first bass of 09 for results.:D

Nice fish, I wish my first of the year had been that big.:applause:
I hit the willy sunday and the water was still stained, only managed a couple of missed strikes.

Nice to see your out early !! :D
Look forward to your warmwater posts. I absolutely love smallies & Walleye in between Salmon & Steelhead, or in my Kayak on the Willy.

This is kind of a late start for me this year and I know they should have been more active but thankfully they weren't or I would have never made it to the private pond.
Well the boat is all ready to go and the water is getting warmer, now I just have to find the time to get out there.
