Fished this Sat. with six other clubs plus pre fish for Aba. a consevative est eighty boats. Our club had 19 and there was 3 limits a 17 15 14lbs I got lucky and won. I had a good jig bite in very shallow water, temp high 40,s not much warming. I fished south all day notice a lot of guys left coleman and went to north lake about noon. A friend of mine in another club fihed north all day and had a 14lb limit and won but it was the only limit in his club. His fish were in the pad fields mine were in the wood, go figure. I see some guys want to go fishing this week so I hope this helps.

That friggin' lake in spring kills me. I can't figure it out. I've now made 4 early spring trips over there and have yet to even get a bite. You're story of "very shallow" intrigues me. But then again if you told me you found a 90 foot hole and were vertical jigging halibut lures I'd be intrigued. The unsuccessful are extremely gullible.

Someone please tell me how the heck to get a fish out of Ten Mile in early spring and I'll put away the halibut jigs.

I intentionally stay away early and I live there! I just do not do well in the early spring because I can't slow down enough! I even know where to fish this time of the year and it's mostly back in the brush. They burry themselves back in the thick willows and it takes jigs and slow presentations to get them out. That's not the only place to find them but probably the most consistent! The 40's are tough, but after the temp gets into the 50's it will pick up a bunch!

Leave all your other tackle home except for your jigs and jig rod. Start about 930 am, water no deeper than 7 foot to 1 foot in the willows. either in the front of them or in them or back side. Brown or black jig matching trailor, stay on main lake if water temp below 53 in protected areas that don,t get hit by the wind, if they get a little sun that will help. Make sure you don,t splash your jig especially if fish are shallow. Have confidance and stick with it you will get bit. Hope this helps you out.

How do you work your retrieves with the jigs?

In the willows usally 10 to20 second soak and then a couple pops and a 5 to 10 second soak. In front or between a very slow drag and stop. Pad fields are mostly swiming the jig with a bulkier trailor.
Good luck, RB
