any ifishers fly fish the fall river

just wondering if any body fished the fall river i got back from vaction there last week and it was a hard river to fish but I caught my fare share of trout and i lost the biggest trout of my life.

but im just wondering if any ifishers fly fished there and what flys and techniques people have used to catch fish there thanks.

I am not really into numphing so I mostly fish drys. I like to fish the BWO hatch. Most of the time I use a size 18 parachute BWO with a size 20 BWO emerger dropper. A killer combo in the winter. The October caddis time is almost here and then I fish large caddis or a muddler minnow.

Yup, bwo's when the hatch is on. Here is a little aha! I had fishing the hatchery (next to, not in) in March. Watched guys up and down the river casting from the bank and not catching fish, so I stepped into the river for a downstream presentation - VIOLA! About 1 fish for every 3 casts... until the snow squalls moved in. Took a brief lull in the storm to realize everybody else had cleared out of there. Oh well, the catching slowed considerably in the afternoon but the fun was relentless. Got a few pics somewhere - I'll post them if I can find them. Gotta love Central Oregon in March - sun and snow, sometimes at the same time.

when i was on vaction i fished the hatcery that is where i caught the most fish on a parie winkle with a small split shot about 9 inches above my fly with a clear sinkin line.

An FYI about adding weight to your line when Fishing Fall River. Since Fall River is Fly Angling Only, no additional weight may be added to hook, leader, or line as per pg 7 of the fishing regs. They do patrol the hatchery area on a regular basis.
