Way to kick it off DJD!
Caught a few more in the last week, none over three lbs, all over 2lbs. 5" purple senko. Worked all week in Brookings and will be back here on some of the weekends-Dan

Thanks a bunch for the updates. You save me a bunch of trips to the lake: once you start catching 'em I put the boat in.
BTW anytime you want to hit it from my boat let me know. I'll be out there Friday and probably Sunday. I'd love the education!

Does anyone know anything about the Crappies in the "Ditch"? Supposedly, crappie fishing is stellar but I haven't been since I was 6 and can't remeber where we used to fish at. I pretty sure my Grandpa used to tool us around the south side near Perkins Point and along HWY 126, but I can't completely remember the spots. Grandpa loved crappie fishing but I only got to go with him once or twice. I'd like to try a combo day for both LMB and crappies and try to re-live some of those times.
I don't really know the good points or open water structures around that lake.
If anyone has any tips, please let me know.

If I were targeting crappie I'd try around the willows up that ditch your talking about.

When the crappie come into the shallows to spawn (next week or two). A good spot either bank or boat is to head towards Fir Butte road. the Amazon creek dumps in there and there is a series of canals and a small dam. Great place for a combo crappie/LMB! Try jointed blue/white rapalas. Slayer for Fern Ditch Crappie! Other wise just toss bobber and jig anywhere there is reeds.

Went over to the Royal Rd Dead End. I was curious if there were fish in those ponds between Royal and Hwy 126? It looks like it would be good habitat for warm water gamefish.

Yeah...There are some fish in there but havent't fished it for prob 15 year...If you go back in those neighborhoods you can also get to some good crappie fishin along the dike. Are talking about the Amazon Creek Canal, as it runs into Fern Ridge?
