I am leading a group of Boy Scouts who are working on their Motorboating Merit Badge. I want to take them to a camping location that we must take a boat to. I have heard there is a campground in Pebble Bay on Odell Lake. Has anyone been there who can share what this campground is like?
Other suggestions? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Been there one time. It is quite primative and close to the railroad tracks.
A couple of other places that have boat in camping is Big Cultas lake and Paulina Lake.

I have stopped at Pebble Bay to use the outhouse, but never camped there. Seems like a nice boat/hike in campground, but hardly ever see anyone camped there. Be prepared for skeeters. Most people seem to prefer Serenity Bay which is just to the Southeast of Pebble Bay, as I almost always see people camped in there. It's not listed as a campground, but there are fire rings, campground tables and outhouses. I think Serenity Bay might be a little better sheltered from the winds that always seem to arrive in the afternoon.

Like Brookiebuster said it's primitive. Old growth fir but close to the tracks. I really like it. Tucked back in out of the wind. I go there just to stretch my legs. Can be alot of lingering snow. It's in the shadows. Have always wanted to stay there. Would be a good place if someone else wasn't there first.

How about the boat park on the John Day? It's a mile or so up river from LaPage Park, off I 84. Good boat ramp at LaPage and good parking area. The boat park is well maintained and probably not used heavy this time of year. Good docks also and fire pits.

It's a shallow approach to Pebble Bay. It is how ever a nice sandy bottom.

Son and I delivered a load to Klammeth Falls Friday, lots of snow under the trees on hwy 58. Not knowing how high the lake is, you may wish to see if the campgrowns are open and free of snow?

Thanks for the info. I will have to check out Serenity Bay. Our outing will be in June. I hope to scope things out in May.
