I've caught both the Atlantics and the Brookies right behind canoes full of rubber neckers. So, I don't think the fish really care. It's all about feeding them what looks like food on that day. If you are giving them something that they were eating last week, they probably don't want it. I'ts a neat place to fish. The canoe hatch is getting pretty awesome though.

I made a quick trip to Hosmer Lake on Saturday/Sunday August 9-10. I found the fishing to be great, with the catching pretty slow. I could see the normal number of nice fish in the channels, and they would ocassionally rise to something, but not anything I tried. No significant hatch that I saw. I finally had a half dozen hits and landed two small Atlantics at dusk.
The bird watching was great, as usual, with bald eagles, osprey and lots of smaller birds, including a family of crossbills. Many cute duck families in various stages of development. And two very raucous sandhill cranes this trip. The otters and beavers stayed hidden this trip.
I think there were fewer fishers and more boaters than usual. When I first kicked my way out to the channel I found two fishers in pontoon boats and about 8 kayaks and canoes passing through. There was also a pram with a large patio-sized sun umbrella and a couple of guys trailing their fly lines over the side. Later in the upper lake I counted 15 kayaks or canoes and no other fishers.
Maybe the fish get used to it, but I expect it puts the fish down to have so much boat traffic.

I always seem to do best on the atlantics using a # 14 adams at the last hour of light. The bats seem to like the flies too!
