I've found a place that I can pick up a new RS2 for under $50 + shipping. I was just wondering if there are any problems associated with these reels. They're also selling the AS for under $70. The company selling these items seems to be reputable enough, but I am just curious about the products.

They are very good reels. Only thing is that now that they are no longer made you have no warranty with them.

I have two of them Ryan. Apparently Orvis bought the Redington company and these reels were competing with their line of reels so they phased them out.

Sage now owns Redington. www.redington.com (http://www.redington.com) The logic is that Sage will sell higher end stuff and Redington entry level stuff. So things like the Redington quartz rods will be going away. But I'd think they'd keep "inexpensive" products like the RS2 going. Anyway, at $50 I don't know if I should pass them up.

Wow that's interesting. The people who own Orvis owned them at one time.
