My friend John and I have a tradition of fishing LBC every New Years day. We decided to cancel and reschedule this year due to nasty winds and weather on New Years day. We finally got that trip in Saturday. Got out on the water by 7:30, after hitting a spot and jigging with no takers, we motored up the Metolius and started trolling herring on my favorite new top secret rig.
We got into a hot bite for about 2 hours. My 1st fish of the day.http://www.ifish.net/gallery/data/500/medium/IMG_02622.JPG (http://www.ifish.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/97017/size/big/cat//ppuser/8168)
It was a gorgeous calm morning. We were shedding clothes and enjoying the sunshine and flat water. I kept reeling them in as I was outfishing John this morning. JZell can relate.
Then John finally got a decent fish. Our biggest of the day.

No, his finger is not in the gills, its well below. He was very careful. We took a break about noon to check out Perry South campground. Lots of people there and 5 or 6 boats pulled up on shore.
None of our fished topped the keeper size mark, but a couple were close and nice fatties.
We got 9 to the boat, then the clouds came rolling in, the barometer dropped and the bite stopped. By 1 pm it started raining pretty good and we called it a day by 1:30.
Life did not suck out on the water today.
