61 views of my first post in 24 hours, but no one wants to post any info about the ramps at detroit. Is the most stocked, easiest accessed, most surrounded by campgrounds, closest to the largest population centers lake in the state the secret fishing spot of alot of I fishers or what?
c'mon, I drove up there last year just to get pictures of all the snow, and I posted them on I fish as soon as I got home. I have always shared information here.
Can't anyone type up a short description for me and the 61 other people that viewed my thread from yesterday?
We would sure appreciate it, maybe even share some info with you along the way, isn't that what we are here for?

I peeked because I was hoping to find something out myself.
Hope someone is able to help you! I haven't been by there since last fall when they were starting construction.

I haven't been by there since last fall but here's a post from a month ago that might be of some help to you guys. If not, try sending a pm to one of the posters. Most of the folks on this forum are pretty free with info.

Every campground has a ramp. Most are closed until April 1st, or until water level is up, with the exception of Mongold...which someone mentioned was being improved. However, it is open for use last I heard.

Deep trout...in your other thread you asked about Mongold and I have some info. They are installing a new "low water" ramp but it will not be in operation this year. Currently at Mongold you can use the "old road" launch. It is very doable but may test your backing skills a bit. The launch has a very gradual grade so you need to back way out to get your boat off. Take waders. I think it is $5 to luanch and they check. I seldom use any other launch but believe Mongold is your only choice this time of year.
There you have it so get up there, catch fish and give a good report !!

I used the ramp at Mongold about a month ago, when the water was at it's lowest. You need to back out into the lake a looong way to to get my 19' NorthRiver off the trailer. Plan on getting your legs wet when you load back up. The launch fee is $3.00 and yes they check. If you are not comfortable with water up to the bottom of the door on a normal height 4X4 truck, wait. The new ramp looks great and I can't wait for it to open.

thanks, another trip saved by Ifish. I am looking forward to next year, when I can count on a ramp. I used to hand launch a canoe, then I moved up to an alaskan, then a smoker jon with a jet, all launched great up there year around, just muddy sometimes, and backing up that far puts a kink in my neck that will make you dizzy if you try to hold it that long. It was always worth the trip, and if it was too slow I could get those boats into big cliff.
now I have my alumaweld flat bottom sled and that thing takes more water to launch off the trailer than any of the others. I have gone up there, looked things over, tried it and given up and come home more than once. I might be able to launch at big cliff, but I might be asking for help pulling it all back up the gravel launch too.
thanks again, looking forward to next year.
