Ochoco starting to pick up a bit. Hooked five in about 3 hours of still fishing from the bank. Sulfite cured salmon/steelhead eggs the bait of choice this spring. Rig with a puff ball just like side drifting to get it off the bottom a bit. Hold overs running around 15''. Good luck, Chris.

Make an annual trip every may to Ochoco. Usually troll baby cowbells with weddingring and worm. Always do pretty good with limits of 12"-14" fish. Would like any advice to catch bigger fish. Thank you

Go in late april and fish the creek channels in the upper lake. Anchor and still fish with steelhead/salmon roe on a slip bobber. The holdover fish will be headed up mill and ochoco creek to do their thing. Hit it right and it can be fifty fish days with a 16'' average.

I've never fished this lake but would like to. So I have a silly question, are you talking Trout or Kokanee?

Trout....don't think there is a fishable population of kokes in ochoco.....

My daughter and I fished it this morning. 3 bites, only one stuck. We trolled the whole time. Little windy in the AM, but it calmed down about 10:00. Cracked Frog F-4.

Was one of my favorite small lakes. Did alot of trolling which I like, but always did better anchored and used power bait and marshmellows. Didn't like to anchor, but had to go with what worked at the time.

Thanks for the report and tips 358. I've always trolled small orange Needlefish at the upper end- usually it's fairly murky water- but they slam it anyway. I like trolling for those fish- they hit HARD- just flatten your pole!
